Not your average frozen burrito

Beans

Slow-cooked from scratch.

Tender whole pinto beans simmered in a scratch-made broth.

The process takes days, not hours.

Cheese

Asadero and menonita cheese that melts smooth and creamy.

More cheese baked on top for added texture.

Tortilla

Local bakery, soft & traditional.

Fresh-made tortillas from La Purisima, a local Mexican bakery.

Satisfyingly soft, with golden, crisp edges when cooked

Cascabel Salsa

Vecina's house salsa, built for this burrito.

Cascabel and chile de arbol, slow-roasted roma and tomatillo. Sherry-deep, nutty, bright. 13 ingredients.

Green Chorizo

Hand-ground Duroc pork from Beelers farm.

Fresh herbs, three chiles, seared in small lots on the flat top. 11 cooking days. Every batch by hand.

About the collab

Vecina means neighbor in Spanish.

Fitting, because it's ten minutes from our kitchen by bike, and it's where we go when we want to celebrate a big win.

Chef James Fox built it from scratch. James Beard semi-finalist. Husband and wife team. We respect the hustle. Deeply.

We spent four months developing the burrito from Duroc pork and fresh herbs, paired it with a cascabel salsa, and put us through 5 chiles, 11 cooking days, and small-lot searing on the flat top.

It's the most complex burrito we've ever made.

Pay Vecina a visit. Order the Karaage. You'll understand.

We Got Answers

  • What is green chorizo?

Chorizo made from hand-ground Duroc pork, roasted poblanos, raw serranos, jalapeño powder, cilantro, and parsley. The chiles and herbs give it the green color. It's seared in small lots on the flat top.

  • What is Duroc pork?

A heritage breed known for its marbling and flavor. Ours is from Beeler's Farm, who've been raising Duroc pigs for over 170 years. Antibiotic-free, pasture-raised. It's the wagyu of pork.

  • What does cascabel salsa taste like?

Nutty with a subtle sweetness. Heat that builds. Bright, deep, and savory.

  • Storage and cooking instructions?

Keep frozen up to 60 days or refrigerated up to 4 days.

    Cooking Instructions:

    Step 1 Defrost:

    • Fastest: Microwave on high for 2 minutes
    • More tender tortilla: Microwave on the defrost setting for 8-10 minutes
    • Most tender tortilla: Defrost in refrigerator for 48 hours

    Step 2 Cook:

    • Make crispy on stove (med-high heat with butter, ~ 2 min. per side)
    • Cook in oven (375 for 10-12 min.)
    • Cook in air fryer (375 for 8-10 min.)

Hangry method: Take out of freezer, remove the wrap, and microwave on high for ~3 min.

  • How are your burritos delivered/shipped?

Shipping orders are sent in boxes with an insulated liner. Both are curbside recyclable. They're packed with dry ice to keep them cold for at least 2 days of transit.

Local deliveries go out in insulated pouches with ice packs to keep them cold for at least 4 hours.

Once your burritos arrive, put them in the freezer ASAP.

Burritos may thaw in transit, but as long as they arrive colder than 40º, they’re safe to freeze or eat.

If anything is less than perfect, email us at help@badhambres.com and we'll make it right.
